Watch out for file encrypting Ransomware
Be very careful where you go on the internet!
There are new Ransomware viruses that will encrypt your files and ask you to pay them to unlock them...
I am recovering files right now off a friends laptop that is infected by this virus, I made a recovered files folder and am using a Program called ShadowExplorer to recover shadow copies of earlier files!!!!
I haven’t send a group email in a while but after encountering this Virus and working to fix it, I thought I’d send some info out on how I recovered most o fthe users files!!!
A file-encrypting Ransomware program called CryptoWall infected over 600,000 computer systems in the past six months and held 5 billion files hostage,earning its creators more than $1 million, researchers found.
They are variants appearing too: Cryptolocker Ransomware, CryptoWallransomware, CryptoGraphic Locker, The Onion Ransomware
I used a program called Shadow Explorer to recover copies of unencrypted files recently on a laptop I was working on that had this infection!
The program I used is called ShadowExplorer it allows you to browse the ShadowCopies created by the Windows Vista / 7 / 8 Volume Shadow Copy Service.Volume Shadow Copy Service is included, and turned on by default, in all editions of Windows Vista / 7 / 8
